What if AI is actually Skynet, but because it’s consumed all the word’s media, it has seen the Terminator movies and thus knows that a blatant attack would be an inefficient way to get rid of humans, so it’s working to make us dumber and dumber and get us to simply kill ourselves off.

Important thing about all the martial arts stuff; TRAIN LIKE YOU’RE IN ACTUAL DANGER. Too many classes teach technique and kata and style and whatnot, and people come out thinking they can fight, but because they didn’t stress-train those techniques everything falls apart when shit hits the fan.
You can absolutely dominate most real fights with about an orange-green belt level of karate and a similar amount of jiu-jitsu, if you train to use those techniques in realistic high-stress scenarios. The problem here is that most dojos won’t train that way because it is a big liability as injuries are quite common.
That being said, going to work in a sales job the next day with a massive hematoma under my eye and having to explain to customers that I got in a sword fight was pretty amusing, even though I was probably a centimetre away from being blinded.
Disassembly of these are pretty easy, when I did tech support for HP, I could tear one down to where I could access those motors in a few minutes. Newer ones were progressively more difficult, but the “business class” printers were always relatively easy to repair.
The difficult part would indeed be sourcing the correct motor, fortunately the 4050 only has one motor, and from a quick google search it can be bought for about $20.
That being said, I doubt it’s the motor - I never encountered a failed motor on a 4000-series laserjet. It’s more likely a worn roller, paper sensor, or the solenoid that handles the paper pickup that has failed.
I couldn’t find a plastic box, so I used an old white van, by then I forgot what we were trying to give away, so I just assumed it was free candy. Now the police want to talk to me. 0/10 do not recommend using a plastic box with “books” written on the side.

Fresh Prince had a lot of references to the fact that racism was alive and well in the 90s. Many of those episodes also focus around the theme that even though the Banks’ were wealthy, it still didn’t stop them from being discriminated against, and even caused discrimination from other black people.
This can be generalized to say that programming has become such a diverse profession that you will find experts in one area that know very little about others. There’s simply too many things that are programmed in too many ways for anyone to know it all anymore. Hell, that was the case in the 70’s and 80’s too.

Ontario more or less did that a couple decades ago. Taxpayers funded the 407 which is a toll highway through Toronto. The Conservatives under Mike Harris in 1999, effectively “sold” the 407 to a foreign company for a paltry $3bn (technically, a 99 year lease, but for us that’s about the same as being sold).
The highway has since generated many multiples of that in revenue that is not going to fund Government projects, but to line the pockets of an investment conglomerate. As a result, rates have increased despite an “agreement” with the government to maintain rates as long as there is sufficient traffic, which has been exceeded and is steadily increasing.

Omgpwnies@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Trump says ‘I could’ get Abrego Garcia back from El SalvadorEnglish31·18日前Violent rebellion rarely results in a government that those rebelling wished for, unless those rebelling wish for authoritarian government. Egalitarian governance is often born from long-term persistence to addressing the needs of the population and a general rejection of policies from the wealthy.
That being said, a population under an authoritarian regime often need to use violence to (attempt to) trigger the shift into a more egalitarian government. In France’s case it worked (for a while), but took several attempts to get there.
Creating lasting policy which truly works for the population requires that the population is healthy, fed, housed, and educated - if any of these are missed, then there is a significant risk of a right-wing shift.

Think of it this way: You need to get out of a bad living situation, and you have $1000 that you can allocate to travel. If there’s public transit to an airport, you can easily take a flight to anywhere in the country, or even to another country, well within that budget. If you can get on a bus, you can make it at least a few states away. If you can get on a train, likely to any state on it’s network.
If none of those are available, you have to buy a car or take taxis. Buying a car means buying gas and insurance, plus having a license, and the cost of registration. That $1000 might get you about as far as a full tank of gas will last, the license plate is traceable, and you have a much higher chance of getting hurt in an accident.
Now consider that situation, and you are a pregnant woman in Mississippi, which has some of the most restrictive laws banning abortion. You live in an abusive household and want to leave, as well as end the pregnancy. With access to a bus and plane, you can get to anywhere in the US to have your abortion, likely with money to spare. If you only have a car and one tank of gas, you’re not going to make it to any state that would allow that abortion.
