They willingly cooperate with russia because russia helps them to take power via online botnets. Yeah, they are absolute scum, but you can find those in any society. The problem is foreign interference that gives them voice. Like the one USA now tries to apply to EU countries, boosting the far righters via social media algorithms.

I once was helping to organize the testing of town-level algorithmic competition for school students.

The competition had one entry level issue that was basically solvable by reading the question properly, recognising that it’s just multiplication of two numbers, and writing the simplest app ever.

And there was one student who passed the automatic tests. We had to read the code too for the protocol, just to make sure there was no cheating.

We looked in the code. What? Why? It had two nested for loops and a++ inside. When we understood what’s going on we couldn’t stop laughing for like solid ten minutes.

I mean that’s the whole idea, you don’t create knowledge out of nothing. But it’s more than just preexisting belief, you try to grab it from collective unconscious.

Plus, card on itself doesn’t tell you anything SPECIFIC. The whole point of cards and magic is to believe that this specific card has bigger meaning, thus you need to interpret it, and think about it’s meaning. And thinking is useful. What conclusion you come up with depends more on the situation than the card itself.

  • You are looking straight at the issue and no, it’s not getting better. Ireland is 2-3 story everywhere, Dublin has some 4-6 stories occasionally and most of the highrises are office buildings. 8+ is not a norm, it’s a huge exception.

People are used to houses / semi-detached. NIMBYs can block the development almost singlehandedly by being super vocal and annoying, yapping about that to all the local politicians.

Ffs even this article, what the fuck is that rambling about poor locals being priced out from south docks by Google? People won the lottery with big tech opening right next door so they can sell their gaff for double price, and how they complain to 25 stories in the north docks, straight near the best method of transport in Dublin and 20 min walk from the city centre?

And is the tech in the wrong for complaining about housing being mismanaged? They write about 400k for 3 beds, tell you what, that’s outdated pricing. 3 bed new builds are priced out of 500k, and the rest is subject to bidding wars - the decent one I’ve seen went from 390 to 485. It’s not getting better. Supply isn’t there.
