The laws are also inconsistent between towns, in my experience. One town you may be required to ride on the sidewalks while in another you are not allowed to do so.

Mostly just target shooting. But I too live in the middle of nowhere and have them to protect my family, pets, and livestock should any of the local wildlife get too aggressive.

"People are over-trusting [AI] and taking their responses on face value without digging in and making sure that it’s not just some hallucination that’s coming up.
So very, very much this. I see people taking AI responses at face value all the time. Look at the number of lawyers that have submitted briefs containing AI hallucinated citations and been reprimanded for them, for example.

Um, I hope you don’t mean that literally. A gallon of water is 3.79 liters.
Symptoms of water intoxication tend to start appearing after you consume more than 3 to 4 L of water in a few hours.
Potential symptoms include:

OP linked to a shitty article. I just read another that said it was for probation violation and the license thing.

She was in jail for all that time for " violating probation and allegedly driving with a suspended license."
ICE showed up the day before she was supposed to be released on the November 11th and ordered her held pending deportation. She was released the next day when they got their heads out of their ass and figured out they were after someone else.

Because AI is a massive waste of resources that has yet to prove (to me at least) that it can provide any kind of real benefit to humanity that couldn’t be better provided by another, less resource intensive means. Advocating for ‘common’ AI use is absurd in the face of the amount of energy and other resources consumed by that usage, especially in the face of a looming climate crises being exacerbated by excesses like this.
LLMs may have valid uses, I doubt it, but they may. Using it to make memes and generate answers of questionable veracity to questions that would be better resolved with a Google search is just dumb.

How stupid do you have to be to intentionally annoy armed police who are known to violently overreact to provocation while carrying illegal drugs? Yeah, I know, the drugs were probably planted, but still. He probably shouldn’t piss off armed fascists with his shenanigans.

Yeah, but to be fair it is substantial enough. This is very basic support issue. Most users (I suspect) wouldn’t need any help with this. Any user who does need help from Copilot to change the font size would probably be further confused. If Copilot cannot handle something this simple, how in the world can anyone expect it to be useful and accurate in more complicated situations?

Unless everyone is granted due process, anyone can be denied it, including you and your loved ones.
These people turned to a tool (that they do not understand) - instead of human connection. Instead of talking to real people or professional help. And That is the real tragedy - not an arbitrary technology.
They are a badly designed, dangerous tools and people who do not understand them, including children, are being strongly encouraged to use them. In no reasonable world should an LLM be allowed to engage in any sort of interaction on an emotionally charged topic with a child. Yet it is not only allowed, it is being encouraged through apps like Character.AI.
How many people has Google convinced to kill themselves? That is the relevant question. Looking up the means to do the deed on Google is very different from being talked into doing it by an LLM that you believe you can trust.

True, he latches on to people he thinks are righteous, first Naomi and then Holden, and uses them as his moral compass. But when they are not around, he beats people up and kills then as his go to reaction to a threat and he has no remorse over doing it. As Naomi tells Holden about him, He is a monster. He doesn’t want to be a monster, but he is one.

Amos Burton from The Expanse. Fans love him but he is a deeply damaged, disturbed, violent individual with no sense of right or wrong. At one point in the books, he looks at somebody and thinks he may have to kill them. The idea doesn’t bother him. He doesn’t get pleasure from it. But they’re in his way so he’ll do it.
If you think about it, it kind of has to be. If it wasn’t expanding, gravity would make it all fall together already.

Already arrested . Apparently they take it quite seriously.

Wow… I did not expect to have to check for Sniper Tourism on my 2025 News Bingo card.

While Smith still holds her position, the senior Fannie Mae officials who called her conduct into question were all forced out of their jobs late last month, along with internal ethics watchdogs who were investigating Pulte and his allies.
Color me surprised.

While detractors warn Palantir fuels the surveillance state, Karp argues the company exists to prevent abuses of power—by making the U.S. so technologically dominant it rarely needs to project force.
Does this make any sense at all? Even if they were able to make it the U.S. never needs to “project force”, how does that have any bearing on preventing abuse or the U.S. becoming a surveillance state.
Especially since some homeless people have no personal or professional connections at all.
