depends on who’s asking. Are you a cop?
pronounce […] “v” as our “w”, to begin with. “Veni. Vidi. Vici.” becomes “Weni. Widi. Wiki.
Ok, maybe I am stupid, regarding the v/w sound, but would you normaly pronounce the V in “Veni. Vidi. Vici.” like the v-sound in “give” or “have”?
“Exempli gratia”
abbreviated “eg”
I never thought e.g. could have latin roots, I thought “e.g.” was just “example given” abbreviated.
always end your conversations with “ceterum censeo carthaginem esse delendam”
and with an attitude like that, I’m gonna cut pay in half from now on. What kind of customer service is that?
What about a bear, though?
I must admit, that I have not watched a single game of the 2022 Qatar world cup, so I couldn’t have told from memory. I had to look it up, and apparently the world cup first started using VAR in 2018:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_assistant_referee#2018_FIFA_World_Cup
It is still a manual review process, though, so I am pretty sure some wrong calls still slip through if the referee decides not to use the VAR because they think their call was accurate.
Wasn’t he the one famously quoted saying “never fight uphill, me boys”?
But… The world cup uses replays, its called VAR and is used in unclear situations.
Thank you. This was it. Apparently, when I exported my user settings from my old instance to my new one, the Json file didn’t include my language settings - English was de-selected.
Re-selecting english in my profile settings makes the replies visible.
Don’t you dare do me dirty like that.
Here’s a link to the specific post.
as a tire enthusiast, I can certainly see the intended joke, but it falls flat on it’s face as it should be quite obvious to anyone that this thread pattern is not from a Goodyear tire, but quite clearly Pirelli. 🤓
