I use Arch based distros btw.

GolfNovemberUniform@infosec.pubOPto Buildapc@lemmy.world•Is a CPU bottleneck really that bad?English0·10 days agoMeh I basically only play AAA games on this system. I have a separate machine for work and that kind of things.
GolfNovemberUniform@infosec.pubOPto Buildapc@lemmy.world•Is a CPU bottleneck really that bad?English0·10 days agoLemmy people seem to have the issue of completely forgetting the original topic. I noticed this earlier when asking about mouse compatibility on Linux and people started recommending mice for almost the price of a new PS5. I was asking about the potential bottleneck. I already did my research beforehand and confirmed that 3080 is indeed good value and suitable for my needs.
GolfNovemberUniform@infosec.pubOPto Buildapc@lemmy.world•Is a CPU bottleneck really that bad?English0·10 days agoMeanwhile there are newer GPUs that will also render 1080p games with the same performance for less money
Like 5060 Ti for 1.5x the price and 20% less performance? Nah I don’t think so. I think I know prices in my own country better ngl.
GolfNovemberUniform@infosec.pubOPto Buildapc@lemmy.world•Is a CPU bottleneck really that bad?English0·10 days agoFrom quite an extensive research I did, I can surely say all of your points are wrong.
3080 is an overkill for 1080p but over time games get more intensive so it becomes only more of a viable option. Limited VRAM works against it but for now it’s still fine in most titles unless you go 4k.
3080 made total sense. It had enough VRAM at the time and now is even considered one of the best NVidia GPUs ever made by some people. NVidia could make it more future proof but wouldn’t it attract miners?
Prices depend on the area but I haven’t seen one where anything beats the 3080 for the price. 6900 XT can beat it in some titles but it’s actually slightly slower on average (if I’m not mistaken). And obviously the AMD card has way inferior productivity features.
GolfNovemberUniform@infosec.pubOPto Buildapc@lemmy.world•Is a CPU bottleneck really that bad?English0·12 days agoUnfortunately I can’t upgrade the CPU due to some very important reasons. And I don’t need it either as I’m planning to get a new machine next year.
GolfNovemberUniform@infosec.pubOPto Buildapc@lemmy.world•Is a CPU bottleneck really that bad?English0·12 days agoBecause developing country market. Also idc about the “features”.
GolfNovemberUniform@infosec.pubOPto Buildapc@lemmy.world•Is a CPU bottleneck really that bad?English0·12 days agoI mean, what’s the point of getting a worse GPU (for example 5060 Ti or 3070 Ti) for the same price? 3080 seems to be of good value here and not too much of an unnecessary waste like 3080 Ti.
GolfNovemberUniform@infosec.pubOPto Buildapc@lemmy.world•Is a CPU bottleneck really that bad?English0·12 days agoYea that’s what I thought. Thanks for your reply.
GolfNovemberUniform@infosec.pubOPto Buildapc@lemmy.world•Is a CPU bottleneck really that bad?English0·12 days agoI’m not gonna upgrade this PC. I’ll get a whole new one when I need it. It’s just I have money to spare so might as well throw a new GPU in for now. Also I chose 3080 because it’s very good value here. Even AMD side doesn’t offer much better. I could get a 3080 Ti but that’s just asking for trouble in my case.
GolfNovemberUniform@infosec.pubOPto Buildapc@lemmy.world•Is a CPU bottleneck really that bad?English0·12 days agoThat’s just about what I thought. Thank you for confirmation.

GolfNovemberUniform@infosec.pubto Linux@lemmy.world•What do you guys think of freedom of speach in 2025s internet?English1·15 days agoIt’s mostly the people, not the services themselves. I guess the services don’t want to look anti-democracy and toxic lol. They have the “it’s fine unless I disagree” philosophy while promoting various “freedoms” (often including freedom of speech) which is definitely not meant for establishing literal minority supremacy.
I don’t even see a reason for proving this tbh. It’s something you have to see yourself to be sure and from my experience people who don’t see it are just highly delusional and deranged or something from that category. People that I know personally and that don’t struggle with severe mental illnesses (as those can cause comprehension issues obviously) do see this problem btw.

Usually they affect old hardware, specialist hardware and NVidia GPUs. If you have none of those, you should probably be fine.
GolfNovemberUniform@infosec.pubto Linux@lemmy.world•What do you guys think of freedom of speach in 2025s internet?English12·16 days agoThat is not true.
GolfNovemberUniform@infosec.pubto Linux@lemmy.world•Bazzite 42 listed in June 2025 Steam Hardware SurveyEnglish1·16 days agohow it happens will be managed well
That’s the thing. Fedora doesn’t manage it well. They just go first.
GolfNovemberUniform@infosec.pubto Linux@lemmy.world•Bazzite 42 listed in June 2025 Steam Hardware SurveyEnglish1·16 days agofedora does not have the lag, discontinuations?
Lag? And discontinuous of stuff like X11 and PulseAudio. They even tried to pass removal of 32 bit packages recently. It may not sound important for 64 bit systems but actually a lot of apps (especially proprietary ones) are in themselves 32 bit.
GolfNovemberUniform@infosec.pubto Linux@lemmy.world•What do you guys think of freedom of speach in 2025s internet?English32·16 days agoTrue and that’s why closed communities (women only, trans only etc) exist. But if a community presents itself as open, not broadcasting something does say something about its morality imo.
GolfNovemberUniform@infosec.pubto Linux@lemmy.world•What do you guys think of freedom of speach in 2025s internet?English12·16 days agoI don’t mean to fight but for clarification of everyone reading, you just seem to have said there are not worthwhile things (opinions)…
I looked it up on a local website which lists all major hardware sellers and it only found one option which is like 60% so that’s not going to work.
Haven’t seen a single seller for that. I only see the K series (90% of options) and the scissors B series. Also it looks like K series isn’t 100% but rather 96? I would prefer to go the safe route and get full 100% ngl. I can’t really afford trying anything now.
About the other brands you mentioned, the only one I recognize from my research is Redragon and all their full size options look massive. Availability of less known brands here is extremely poor and inconsistent.
That’s why I made this post. Fortunately I have developed a brilliant resistance to unwanted rabbitholes (as well as some other things) which consists of the feeling of general severe physical pain that appears automatically in the event of detection of one. Seeing some old posts mentioning how deep it goes was enough for me to stop looking lol.
