I also much prefer my robot to not send a live camera feed to some Chinese server. So even if Lidar were to be less good I’d opt for that.

AR is not dead but it will take much longer than expected to be as light and comfortable as a pair of sunglasses.

I’m hoping to see a lot of progress in display tech. We’ve already seen first transparent screens but there is still work to be done. I would love to let my monitors „disappear“ when not in use. Also flexible displays are maturing, this could get interesting.

Diese Fließband Analogie ist auch immer das was ich dabei im Kopf habe. Das gleiche gilt ja auch im Englischen. Verstehe nicht warum das dort in Ordnung ist, aber im Deutschen nicht. Es passt einfach.

Es wäre meiner Meinung nach trotzdem der richtige Weg erstmal auf den schlechten Wasserstoff zu setzen damit die Infrastruktur schonmal da ist. Später müssen dann die Gesetze verschärft werden.

Es ist doch ähnlich bei Batterie E-Autos. Man fing mit den Lithium Ionen Akkus an und entwickelt währenddessen schon an neuen Technologien die umweltschonender sind. Gleichzeitig wird auch die Stromerzeugung selbst immer grüner. Die Infrastruktur mit den Ladesäulen bleibt aber gleich.

Man darf nicht immer sofort auf Perfektion setzen, auch wenn es das Ziel sein sollte.

zB wenn man noch neu in der Gegend ist und bei sengender Hitze (mit dem Hund) einen Spaziergang machen möchte.

Oder wenn man Wohnungen/Häuser sucht und sich einen Überblick verschaffen möchte wie es um das Gebäude herum über den Tag aussieht.

Es ist schon eher nischig, aber es gibt hier und da Gründe warum man sowas gerne hat.

Ich hatte ein ähnliches Problem und mir wurde damals auf Mastodon der Politik Feed vom Deutschlandfunk empfohlen. Das hat sich für mich echt bewährt weil da täglich nur 5-10 Artikel reinkommen.

That’s actually a huge problem and I don’t get why it is not talked about more. We all learn about validating links in emails and are very careful about clicking anything there. But QR codes we just scan and open without thinking.

Technology has continued to progress but I think many cable providers are capping at around 100 mbps. I could be wrong.

My cable internet provider offers up to 1000. I currently have 250. It is pretty unstable though that could just be the provider being shitty.

But I’m switching to fiber this month in my new apartment.

Ich habe alle Optionen jahrelang durchgemacht und immer gewinnt das Auto.

Zur Arbeit brauche ich mit den Öffis mindestens doppelt so lang, muss dann obendrauf noch täglich mit Verspätungen rechnen (die teilweise nicht mal kommuniziert werden) und mich in enge Busse quetschen mit Menschen die eine Woche nicht geduscht haben.

Fahrrad kann ähnlich schnell sein, muss aber nicht. Das hängt vom Weg ab. Oft kann man gut abkürzen, dann geht es tatsächlich flott. Aktuell wohne ich eh zu weit weg, da ist das gar keine Option. Das wird sich demnächst ändern, dann werde ich bei gutem Wetter vielleicht auch mal das Rad nehmen. Aber auch dann brauche ich ca 15 min länger als mit dem Auto.

I would recommend playing the game first or ditch the rest of the series altogether. Certain important moments need to be felt really hard and the series is just not delivering that. I played the game twice actually and it still works. It’s a bit long though.
