News@lemmy.world•HOA fines man over handing out water in heat
1·5 months agoHE WAS HANDING OUT “FREAK OLD WATER!!”
Think of all the children that were saved from his poison!
There’s not a bad thing about it!!
Man o man.
2A looks pretty fucking great when we are faced with an actual threat, don’t it?
I’m there!!!
Right after you go to the front line between Ukraine and Russia…
The real problem here is that they haven’t marketed it properly. What you want to do is call it an exercise in “preserving democracy”. This would get all of these new anti-war people on board with providing endless weapons and billions upon billions of dollars to a war that we have absolutely NO business being part of!
It’s all about the optics with those that are easily manipulated into supporting war.

THE POLICE PROBLEM@lemmy.world•Robbers pretending to be ICE agentsEnglish
46·6 months agoAll I see is peaceful looting, surely they are insured.
This is not my actual take, but too many people on this site cheer when it’s masked “protesters” robbing businesses but wag their finger at this? I mean, you never see a post titled “THE RIOTER PROBLEM”.
Choose a moral standing that isn’t tied to political football.

There is an entire population of people that don’t live perpetually online…you know? The place that gives a platform to the loudest most annoying people?
Whatever. I really only ever comment because sometimes I like writing.

News@lemmy.world•TN high schooler’s diploma withheld after coming out as gay on social media
1·7 months agoSo much for the “freedom of speech not freedom from consequence” crowd.
It’s only ever bad when the consequences hit someone that you judge is in the right.
If we are talking about critical thinking, then I would argue that using AI to battle the very obvious shift that most instructors have taken, (that being the use of AI as much as possible to plan out lessons, grade, verify sources…you know, the job they are being paid to do? Which, by the way, was already being outsourced to whatever tools they had at their disposal. No offense TAs.) as natural progression.
I feel it still shows the ability to adapt to a forever changing landscape.
Isn’t that what the hundred-thousand dollar piece of paper tells potential employers?
Are you talking about the artist or the person the artist is complaining about?

95·7 months agoYes, well…when you’ve been indoctrinated by the internet the majority of your adult life, you (totally unironically /s) view anyone that doesn’t align exactly with your world view as a Totalitarian.
I would say it’s a problem, but at least it keeps you all in a centralized bubble that allows you to believe “we are the majority!!”, without actually impacting the real world.
Fool!! You’ve activated my trap card!!

12·8 months agoYou got me thinking over here.
Perhaps it’s a two way street, and both sides have changed.
It used to be that people wanted to suspend their beliefs for an hour and a half and live in a fantasy. I feel like most people look more for reality and relatability in cinema these days, but Hollywood is still trying to provide the escape.
It’s just not lining up.

RetroGaming@lemmy.world•GameCube Coming To Nintendo Switch Online With 3 Games At LaunchEnglish
1·8 months agoNo. It’ll be a digital exclusive for owners of the Legend of Zelda edition Switch 2 (non OLED that comes with a $200 premium) that also have a Nintendo Online subscription. And this, of course, won’t drop until sales of the Switch 2 start to decline.
Bet on it (I hate what Nintendo has become).

Right there with you. I had to fully encapsulate my mattress (which was a brand new memory foam), spray poison all over everything, then heat treat the entire room until my blinds melted…TWICE!
My wife still freaks out if she sees a spot of dirt on the sheets, and that all happened 7 years ago.
You never quite get over a bed bug infestation.
