That’s only 150 of working days for your lord on top of 365 days you had to work your own patch of land not to starve to a fucking death and to pay taxes to your lord. People who believe that life 100+ years ago was easier are ultra delusional and, most likely, still live in their mom’s basement and never had work in their life.

It depends on the contaminant. For example, if iron is polluted with carbon, carbon will dissolve and even react with iron to produce cementite. That’s how iron becomes steel.

And slag itself results in a metal loss. You can’t drain it off and not waste some of the material you’re recovering.

Basically there’s no such thing as 100% recovery of recycled material in an industrial setting. You can do it in the lab at astronomical costs, sure, but your local metalworks are not capable of that. But that doesn’t mean we should stop recycling.

  • Gardening on Reddit has 7.8m subs, that’s more than the whole Fediverse with all the bots.

Another issue is the quality of people. For example, I’m into kitchen knives. Dr. Larrin posts on Reddit about steels and related metallurgy. Does he post on Lemmy? No. Stroppy Stuff posts on Reddit about strops and sharpening. Does he post on Lemmy? No.

I’m also into mountain biking. Reddit is full of engineers, brand representatives and athletes, none of them is on Lemmy.

No one worth their salt gives a shit about Lemmy, that’s the hard truth. If you want to get quality hobby content - you go to Reddit.

Lemmy is for 15yo kids posting memes and US politics for those who got banned on Reddit. And for some devs to satiate their curiosity.

  • He’s right though. Bulgarians love Russia, because Russians kicked Turks out over a century ago. Hungary and Slovakia are full on pro Russia right now and are not even hiding it. Plenty of Polish people love PiS who are pro Russian and I have no clue how PiS lost last elections.

And the Western countries are not much different. Le Pen almost won in France, AFD and Reform are on the rise in Germany and the UK. And, holly fuck, Trump got a second term in the US.

It is utterly delusional to think that Russia lacks strong support. “Haha ruzzkies” thinking is only playing into Putin’s hand.

There are two ways of looking at it.

    1. The time machine is using itself as a point of reference to comply with general relativity. The only way to time travel is to move forward in time. The way to move through time would be to move a lot faster than the Earth, so that every minute for you inside the time machine would equal to many years for earthlings. And if you’re moving that fast you’ll fly away from Earth.
    2. The time machine somehow has a knowledge of the whole universe, this way a Newtonian model applies and an absolute point of reference exists. That allows unrestricted travel both forwards and backwards in time, but that also means that the Earth will inevitably move from under the machine to follow its path across the universe.

No matter how you twist it you’ll end up all alone in space. You need a machine which can move through both time and space at the same time.
