  • So your solution to fascism is to… concede to the hatreds of the fascists.

So the Democrats would be different… how then? Dems and Republicans are both bribed to burn society to fuel economic metastasis at all costs, the only thing that separates them at this point are affirmation ribbons you can’t eat, wear, or live in(D), and stoking hatred through scapegoating® on the social policy side.

If the Democrats get on board with the scapegoating, what are we even voting for anymore? The ONLY reason I vote for them is the harm reduction of not preaching hate as they allow mass homelessness, growing wealth inequity, and defend entire market sectors that have become murderous confidence schemes along with their Republican buddies across the aisle.

Your kind of pragmatism is why we have no real opposition party to the Republicans. Your kind of pragmatism has already brought us to hell.

  • It really is better to be destroyed by Trump and fascism standing for what’s right, that being empathetic and logical, than to cowtow to his demands.

Better to die on your feet than live on your knees. I won’t be the equivalent of a German who provides silent, obedient consent as they dehumanize the gypsies/Jews/disabled.

It’s not rehabbing the Democrat party to yet again make them a little more similar to the Republicans, they’re already fascist light.

We need a major left wing party in the United States. We haven’t had one in living memory. If we don’t get that, highly likely, the ship will continue to sink until collapse. Then we can form a bunch of smaller nations of varying decency to be destroyed within a couple decades by climate change, forcing us back to a far more hostile nature than humanity has known.

It’s almost funny we are doing all of this to ourselves as a species to prevent what my species sees as the worst possible fate: humanism and global cooperation where no one is allowed to hoard enough resources to live as modern pharoahs while others starve and die of exposure.

We’d rather go extinct or to subsisting off hunting and gathering than forfeit our dreams of being the rich sociopaths inflicting ourselves on the masses. Earth has something for a species that toxic.

  • Jesus is NOT alright with Republicans.

Not the Jesus of the New Testament going by his teachings, and not the Jesus that literally labors for the very food the raging hypocrites eat.

Atheists like myself at least don’t care about Jesus Christ. But as someone raised Roman Catholic, with a grandmother that recognized the benevolent teachings of the New Testament, I can verify one of the Republican’s apparently ridiculous claims is absolutely true:

There is absolutely a war inside America against Christianity.

Republicans are the ones waging it though, as they worship a gold plated nepo slumlord gameshow host idol no less.

  • Trump is a symptom of the Reagan Revolution. A vulture come to feast on the carcass.

The compete societal capitulation to the whims of capitalism that was the Reagan/Welch revolution destroyed this nation, don’t give Trump that much credit.

It just took the body awhile to hit the floor. I’d argue that was Citizens United.

  • I consider it insult to say I agree with either of our 2 parties on 50% of the issues. Almost all of both of their policy positions are derivations on “how will this metastasize the capital markets faster” and not “how will this improve the wellbeing of the citizens of society, preferably at the expense/taxation of the capital markets that we kindly permit to profit off of society at all so long as they don’t undermine said society to increase their profits”

Both parties would be lighting themselves on fire to prevent the latter. The tail has been wagging the dog for a long time, the fucking profoundly perverse servitude of a society to an economy. It obviously needs to be the other way around or… Well this.

  • I voted for Harris, and voted for Biden before that, and Clinton before that. With shame as I should. Harm reduction, methadone instead of heroin.

It’s nothing to brag about. You guys try to make them sound like a good choice, when neoliberals are for the same status quo, only minus the scapegoating. They’re just a lesser degree of bad. They’re for mass homelessness, they’re for entire murder for profit economic sectors including American “Healthcare,” they’re for ever worsening income inequity, because on economic policy (that informs and often dictates social Ills) they’re on the same take as Republicans. Just because they don’t cheer and pour the blood they’re drenched in over their heads in celebration like Gatorade, doesn’t mean their hands are any cleaner.

That scapegoating makes Republicans worth voting against, but you’re praising Jack the Ripper in the face of Adolf Hitler. No American should feel anything but shame about only having a extreme right wing party and a fascist party as our only two options. No one should have left an American polling place with a smile or pride for the last half century, it’s been a rocketship to avarice diseased oblivion, that Trumpism is just a newer symptom of, not the cause.

Reagan toppled this empire, it just takes an empire a while to hit the ground. We have arrived at a while. Trump is more of a vulture come to feast on the corpse.

  • I don’t think Fred would be capable of that.

He’d be telling anyone who would listen that mistakes are just a part of learning, even as our tortured Earth starts making the very air we all breathe make the last humans lungs burn.

That’s why I certainly praise Fred, but could never subscribe to him. He had an unshakable conviction in the intrinsic decency of people. I’ve come to have conviction that the opposite is more often true.

Honestly, I’m glad he’s not here to see this.
