There is a scene in the film version of Minority Report when the police release little creepy crawly drones into an apartment building.

Although that part of the film was very unrealistic because the cops actually warned the residents about their surveillance devices.

In reality the police have DA’s drop cases against criminals that might have to reveal the mechanisms of parallel construction that total surveillance by law enforcement has. And it is more or less automated into data eating oppression.

I work in tech, and have a coworker that noticed one day that his Internet was slow, and couldn’t figure out a reason why. Since, at the time he worked for his ISP, he went out to the nearest handhole to investigate his connection. He found that every drop connected in that handhole had a wire tap installed on it illegally by the local police.

You can fly a drone above a house or private property in New York as long as you don’t fly below the minimum height, hover around the property, or use your drone to capture or record the occupants without permission from the occupants or property owner. Nov 1, 2022
