    And how do they install Windows? I had to install it for a friend a few months ago and the way I did it was by downloading a bootable windows image and made a bootable usb with it.

      Well that’s the point, isn’t it? You had to do it for them because ordinary people don’t have to install Windows, it’s already there. That’s why it is so crucial to get the installation UX as easy as possible.

        You literally have no point. You’re just arguing against Microsoft being the defacto software. If it wasn’t, people would be starting from the same point and would need to make a choice. Microsoft took that away from you. You have no choice unless you get a Mac. That’s got NOTHING to do with Linux.

          Um, I’m sorry, my point is extremely clear: Debian should and could be easier to install for normal users. Other distros prove that it is possible. If you believe that dumb normies should suck it up and use Windows or Mac, fair enough. I do not.
