    r-word’ed

The problem with slurs isn’t the literal word but the implication. Would you call people unironically “n-word” as well? Also, it’s awkward to read. Just replace it with a word that carries the meaning you are are going for with out the harmful ones.

        is not a slur

It offends people. There are dozens of other words with the same meaning without offending anyone. In this case being nice to others is not even an inconvenience.

is to get around the censors

As I pointed out, censoring the word in a way that everyone still knows what it’s supposed to say achieves nothing but to irritate everyone reading the comment. Also, have some balls then. If you see no issue with that word, use it.

You can’t make words mean what you want

You realize that the word has/had a clear definition in a medical context? And it doesn’t mean “stupid” there.

You being offended is not my problem or my responsibility to mitigate. Insulting words exist. Deal with it.

I agree with you that censoring the word is irritating and unnecessary.

And retard is an insult, not a medical term. It literally doesn’t matter if it even was in the past because it isn’t anymore; words evolve and change over time because that’s how language works. If retard is a slur, so is idiot, imbecile and moron. None of those four are slurs. We’re allowed to call each other stupid.
