For the nth time I got stuck on a (dead) crab web while heading for a door, when a diagonal move would have avoided it. At least the movement should stop before stepping on visible nasty things.

Treating plants and webs as traps does sound like a somewhat reasonable default. Even when as a Warden I want to step on a plant I don’t rely on the pathfinding to go through the plant.
