My mind was already blown back when Mike Conley signed the “biggest basketball contract ever” like 8? years ago. Feels like every year since then has some variation of that and now I’m just numb to it
Wish some of that salary inflation hit my real life job
I like basketball but I don’t follow it (this post was on All) and the fact that I have no idea who Mike Conley is makes me think that record-setting contract was not worth it. Is he good? I’m familiar with a lot of big names and up-and-comers but this guy flew under my radar completely
At the time, Mike Conley hadn’t been an all star yet (he’s also only been an all star once in his career). I’d say it was an overpay, but every young NBA star gets the max nowadays so it’s just kinda market value
But still, despite being a one time all star, Mike Conley is good and every team that has him loves him. So his contract isn’t bad like say, Davis Bertans/Chandler Parsons/John Wall

Interesting, thanks for the breakdown!
