The sign should say “Soup of the day”. Its an error, not a typo.

A “Soup of the day” sign would be at a restaurant or deli to tell customers what kind of soup they are serving that day. There is usually an item on the menu that just says “soup of the day $x” instead of “chicken soup” or “carrot soup” and you have to ask or read another sign to know what kind it is today.

“Day of the something” on the other hand is a phrasing that suggests the something is invading Earth.

🤣 Thanks, that was a very thorough explanation. The thought that the sentence was just flipped didn’t cross my mind.
