Last year, the Firefox team set out to test something fans requested: choosing a custom app icon. The experiment was simple. Offer a small set of options and see how people use them.
I get us computer users can just change the icon of our browser easily¹, but why can’t we get something like the option to change the Firefox icon? At the very least, I would love to find a full resolution version of the icon to try and replace the mull browser icon on my desktop and laptop because their yellow “M” on a blue background just doesn’t cut it for me.
- Comparatively to mobile users in majority of cases.
I couldn’t find where to change the icon.
Settings -> Customize -> App Icon was the first option on Android.
Tried that. It’s not there for me. Maybe it’s not rolling out at the same time.
Are you using Fennec? I don’t have it there either. But it is there in Ironfox.
Oh that’s interesting. About a week or maybe 2 ago I got a pretty big Firefox mobile update. The entire UI was overhauled. Have you experienced that yet?
The last big change I saw was the cartoon fox on the tracking protection page, and some other changes there. Don’t see anything other than that. It also says the last update was from 24th November. So looks like I am not on v146 yet.
I’m on 145 still. Maybe they are doing an A/B rollout for the UI. I’m not a big fan of all changes, but overall the aesthetic is nice.
I think that might be the case here.
