This looks like it’s just the Infinite marine design. There looks like a lot of assets ported from Infinite into the remake. Part of the online moshpit is insisting all the Infinite models are actually just placeholders. I’d be happy to be surprised by that being true, but I suspect these models are here to stay.
Personally it’s a bit disappointing, as the CE design is my favorite. The helmets with green eyepieces, the metal leg and shoulder armor, and the heavy wear on it has always been my favorite look. It pulls really hard from the Aliens USCM. I’m disappointed to spot modern looking NOD plates and MOLLE on Halo marines.
The green eye pieces are iconic for CE, it would be such a shame to lose them.
These marines like look a mash up of the Reach marines used in CEA and infinite marines. I really hope they can bring back the Aliens style armor.
You know they won’t. It looks like they’re reusing the infinite elite designs for the most part, along with certain weapon models like the needler.
kinda wild to see their take on a plasma rifle after maybe 10 years though.
