It very well could have been. However, I’d note that I’d seen similar sentiments from individuals who were not trolls (or at least have been keeping the troll up on their online persona for several years) in 2021. It was a good year for salt.

Having said that, our conservatives have absolutely turned themselves into a laughingstock, there’s no doubt of that. This was abundantly clear midway through 2020, and it’s only accelerated since then.

I say that you cannot have a true communist country unless it’s also a true democracy. Having a single party with all others made illegal doesn’t count.
