Think of a world that changed fundamentally after Marx died. His books became forgotten, and never received circulation beyond the German language. In that world, there has been no Soviet Union. There has not even been an attempt at socialism anywhere, because there was nothing to drive it.
We don’t live in that world. We live in one where all those things existed, and continue to exist, and continue to effect influence on us, traveling through time with ourselves as the catalyst.
We wouldn’t have Marxism per se, but we would have dialectical materialism under another ism. Marx just happened to be the man that put it together at that determinate time.
If Marx wouldnt have been, another person would have come up with the same or an equivalent of his works. What we know as Marxism would never have not existed the way history was progressing.
Imagine if Newton hadn’t figured out that the force of attraction between two objects is proportional to their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. People wouldn’t have figured out how to fly planes and we never would have gotten to the moon.
Nope!
Science is not invention. Science is the codifying and understanding of material reality. Gravity exists. All Newton did was discover equations that describe how gravity works. If he hadn’t someone else’s would have.
Marxism is science. Marx didn’t invent communism he just described how socio-economics work and based off the history of socio-economics he formulated where it will eventually lead.
Think of a world that changed fundamentally after Marx died.
uhm sweetie…THIS world changed fundamentally after marx died
