From Dan Oh
Great Horned Owlet Falling: I had a dinner engagement with my wife and my daughter and I had to leave the site before “action time”.
Well, I folded my tripod, hung my camera on side, and was walking away. Then I see from the left corner of my eyes a GHO Owlet tumbling down, falling from a tree … I have a very vivid memory.
All the on-lookers gasped in unison. Well, story goes some how the owlet after doing unwanted summersault hitting branches landed on the bottom most branch safe and sound.
I have seen such in 2 other locations in previous years. They all looked fine. Falling is just a process of some owlets. Some land on the ground and some how they use Beak-Wing-talon claws to climb back up.
Best thing is to leave them alone … if you are a dog walker then put the leash on them if the rule of the trail says.
