It makes people overeager for vigilantism. Instead of exploring ways to evaluate things and improve systems so that better people can flourish, or improving the “better” to be far more attractive (not just in the fashion sense), it makes people far more focused on humiliating certain people (who sometimes are not guilty at all). It makes “us vs. them” mentalities far easier and thus furthers horrible engagementbait social media algorithms. It would be better if schadenfreude didn’t exist.
I think ya need to look up the meaning there m8.
I agree with your sentiment esp the first half, but the body and title just don’t work at all.
Take Elon, does it make me bad to smile when he goes on tv and whines about his stock? Is it vigilantism if I were to sell Tesla stocks or vehicle after the cunt did back to back Sieg Heils on live tv?
Usually Schadenfreude is when something bad happens to a ‘bad’ person, makes ya smile on the inside knowing some sort of justice just happened. Yes it can come from a place of negativity too but I doubt its a 1:1 ratio
does it make me bad to smile when he goes on tv and whines about his stock?
No, because schadenfreude is unfortunately part of our psychology. But it should not exist, and we should not give into it. We should do things to bad people because of the damage they’d cause, not because we hate them. Many-a-Musk’s base are supporting all kinds of things to “own the libs”.
Is it vigilantism if I were to sell Tesla stocks or vehicle
Perhaps, but it would be better if one didn’t feel a schadenboost in freude because of it.
