It’s really quiet outside right now; fewer birds, very few insects buzzing about no matter what time of day it is, no rabbits and maybe one or two squirrels. There’s a shocking lack of life compared to way back when. Everyone outside looks anxious, reserved. Smiles are tight, and even children (in the neighborhood/grocery store) look tired and worn out. In public where I am (U.S.), the mood is very heavy, as if people are collectively processing horrible news… Maybe we’re finally past collective denial. I don’t know. I’m grateful communities like this one exist, and I hope everyone is having a better time of it.
