To the public opinion

During the past few days, the “SDF” has enacted a widespread campaign of arrests which has reached all who oppose its political and militant views. This campaign has targeted people of a wide range of views, whether they were supporters of the Syrian government, or of the Syrian revolution, or even those who raised its flags or celebrated its memory in its fourteenth year.

These arrests constitute flagrant violations of the text of the agreement between the president Al-Sharaa’ and the leader of the “SDF”, Mazloum Abdee, as it states clearly in its 7th clause, the rejection of calls to division and hate speech, and prevention of any attempts to promote sedition between the components of the Syrian people.

What’s happening today is a clear violation of human rights and international treaties which ensure the freedom of opinion and expression. As well as contradicting the laws and principles present in the constitutional declaration, which are supposed to protect the rights of citizens. Not allowing them to be violated in this crude way.

Based on that, we the activists of the Syrian Jazira, demand the Syrian government in Damascus hastily intervene to free all who have been imprisoned immediately. And take all necessary precautions to protect them, and bring those responsible for the violations - which go against the most basic human rights - to justice. Negligence of matters such as these gives legitimacy to these suppressive practices against citizens.
