These things probably need to figure out how to get the word out about them before they’re actively happening.
I don’t feel like I’m blocking any community that would post this and Lemmy isn’t big enough to miss something that gets any traction, but this is the second “nationwide” protest that seems to have no lead up that I’ve run across.
Someone shared what I was talking about in a different post, here’s a heads up on what the upcoming actions are:
The planning for this seems to have started 3 days ago on the r/50501 subreddit, as far as I can tell. I only just discovered it myself yesterday.
There’s some more actions planned much farther ahead, which I’ll be posting to some more central communities at some point (once I can find it)
Edit: now i’m seeing posts about this from 8 days ago, so there was some lead up to it, I was just slow on the draw
It’s been an active on Bluesky for some time now. Lemmy has been slow to keep up and contentious imo
I suspect that Lemmy is one of the more semi-isolated parts of the fediverse, since especially after recent events, we’re heavily against traditional social media and actively avoid it, while also seemingly not having an affinity to microblogging platforms (of which I also fall under).
Better microblogging federation like Mbin would likely help lift that isolation.
