    This is common knowledge in tropical territories. “Don’t let water accumulate, because the skeeters will lay eggs, and the best way to keep the dengue fever out is to keep the vectors from breeding.” (mosquitoes don’t live very long or travel very far after ecloding, so, stop the mosquitoes from going far, and you stop the illness from going far)
