I’ve just found Syncthing and I’m blown away by this app. So, I’m interested if any of my other apps can be replaced by foss equivalents that can be synced.
My first suggestion is Obsidian - which, at first I had problems syncing with paid solutions, but syncs flawlessly with Syncthing.
Does anyone have any more suggestions? Ideally looking to sync between android devices, but any info is much appreciated.
Update : many thanks for all the suggestions - some good ones. Hopefully we can keep adding the ones we find that can be synced from local folders.
Any apps that use local files!
I use it with Logseq for my notes, I sync the camera for my photos, and with Keepass for my passwords
Edit: I guess Vinyl Record Player for my music as well, librera reader for my ebooks, and I’m trying AudioAnchor for my audio books (but I’m not really happy with this one and I’m going to try to find a different app)
I use Voice Audiobook Player for my audio books.
I opened this pretty recently
I’m using KeePass for notes and passwords; any local player like VLC is good for music or videos; any gallery app is good for your photos.
Yeah, I’d actually made a comment on that thread (duh). I guess before I realised how good / useable Syncthing was.
Edit: grammar
DecSync CC is an app that stores calendar / tasks / contacts as files on the phone. You can sync them to other devices. I use it to sync our family calendar and contacts in our household. No clouds involved.
Possibly Joplin? Similar idea
Also Logseq.
The same applies for various password managers.
I sync CherryTree for not taking across multiple machines.
