Problems stemming from user’s extensive and breaking configuration changes in Linux can be blamed on other things, ‘you chose the wrong distro’ -for example. (Always pointing the finger away). There’s not a distro that’s in common use that doesn’t have people bitching about it.

Gnome has to deal with these people using ‘Gnome Tweaks’. Gnome has been the default desktop environment on many of the major distros for reasons. It attempts to enforce good work flow and habits like keeping your desktop clean and using keyboard shortcuts. It’s less buggy by default than Plasma (which focuses on features and innovations). It’s the closest thing Linux users have to a consistent interface that they could use for non CLI tech support.

These people try to sell Linux as being ‘more secure’, when security is 99% on the user and they’re referring to a barebones system vs a whole desktop installation. -You got it: their failure to perform timely update makes them less secure.
