OK, so I feel a bit stupid asking, but I cannot find any help online.
Situation: I have a game running locally with 2 players, we played a while so we got farmhouse and one cabin setup. We never intended for another player to join, so I think we just set it up for 2 players when starting, if that matters.
Now we have a third player who’d like to join us, locally as well, but we cannot seem to figure out how to add this third player.
Before you say just go to Robin and build an extra cabin… Yes, we tried that. The problem is that Robin does not offer any more cabins to build. We checked several times, the option to build it is just not there.
So, is this a bug of some kind? Could we have setup the game in a way where you really cannot add anymore cabins/players? What we haven’t tried yet is to connect the third player so the error message comes that they cannot join, would that give the cabin option back?
This is on PC/Linux, if that matters.
Not too sure, but I seem to recall that a farmhand can’t build more cabins and only the farmer can. I’d recommend giving that a go.
That is actually something worthwhile trying! We did indeed only check with a farmhand going to Robin. We will try that, thanks!
Thanks again! That was indeed it, had the main player go to Robin and the cabin popped up as option.
Ah perfect, great to hear! A similar follow up note, only the farmer can move or destroy buildings too!
The only buildings where it’s important the respective person contract their own stuff is for the stables (each person should do their own for secret future reasons) and house upgrades.
Yeah. I noticed the moving/destroying already but the stables is a good heads up! Thanks!
You say running locally. Do you mean running on two devices over LAN, or do you mean split screen? It is not possible to have splitscreen farm hands and remote farm hands at the same time. Still though, that should not be preventing you from building more cabins at Robin’s. If you’re on the latest version you should be able to build up to seven of those on PC.
Ah, right. It is all locally splitscreen. Not trying to mix. So it does sound like a bug, it is not the latest version but one behind. Which probably shouldn’t make a difference.
