I’ve switched from Zyprexa to Depakote. I don’t even have Loxapine to help me sleep anymore. Man, I’ve been having the best week of my life (not in a manic or hypomanic way, I would know since the biggest culprit is buying $3000 of random stuff in 1 week). I didn’t know it was affecting me that much since I’ve been on Zyprexa for a long time now at different dosage the lowest being 7,5mg and the last dosage I was on was my highest at 30mg a day. I’ve been getting my creativity back and my ability to create, I write a lot of poems, I journal a lot, I gained back my ability to daydream (which helps a ton my creativity). The only downside I have is I get vivid dreams and weird sleep overall. I told my psychiatrist I don’t have psychotic symptoms which she seemed to agree with so I trust her.

That sounds like a lot, wow. Doc had me on 3mg and also had me split the pills in two since we couldn’t get lower dose. Even then I could tell how much it affected me. Almost like seeing in black & white only every sensory perception was like that.

You’re probably having a bit of a rebound though. Brace for some sort of impact. But balance should return in like two weeks. You’ll probably notice the dreams calming down first.

Just be aware there’s likely to be some yo-yoing with a switch, and your eventual stable state might not be the same as where you are now.

That isn’t to make you worry or not enjoy being more of yourself, it’s so that when things settle out that it doesn’t come as a surprise if it isn’t the same. That can be a bigfactor in folks chasing the previous, temporary, state, which ends up causing more fluctuations and troubles.

And it could end up where you’re new base state is this current one, or even something that’s even more enjoyable. But the really good news is that if you’re feeling like this, your eventual stable state is going to be much better than where you used to be. No matter what, assuming no bad reactions (which likely would have happened in the first day or two), the response you’re having means an overall improvement is damn near guaranteed.

So, if you get some ups and downs, don’t worry much, they’ll settle out :)
