Jack has an Italian cologne vibe to it. Really very nice. Certainly worth a sample if you’re interested. This boar brush has finally transitioned into total goodness. Excellent shave today!

    • Brush: AP Shave Co. - 24mm Synbad Fan
    • Razor: Blackland Era - Level 3 SB
    • Blade: Bolzano Superinox (Egypt) (1)
    • Lather: Noble Otter - Logbook - Soap
    • Post Shave: Noble Otter - The Night Before - Aftershave
    • Fragrance: Noble Otter - Hamami - EdP

I’ve been craving a Noble Otter shave since the beginning of August. It was stellar. Definitely my favorite base (subject to change, terms and conditions apply, potential take-backsies in the future).

I’ve long been a fan of Bolzano blades. My understanding is they used to be made in Italy, then moved manufacturing to Germany. The German ones work really well for me in some razors (not so much in others). Within the past year or two they moved manufacturing to Egypt, and I finally got some of those to try.

@EldrormR@sub.wetshaving.social said he might be interesting in what I thought of them. Initial impression is very good. I need to do a side by side comparison to see if they feel different than the German ones, and need to put them to the longevity test to see if they’re worth $40, but this shave was very smooth and comfortable.

$40 is a lot for 100 blades, so I wouldn’t recommend everyone go out and get some. I’ve also heard a lot of negative experiences with Bolzano over the years (especially from @Old_Hiker@sub.wetshaving.social , but even he has recently said “oh damn, these are actually pretty good after all”). I think it really depends on the razor you use it in. I’ve noticed they work well for me in mild razors.

    Fou Fri 13 Sep 2024

    • Brush: Semogue Owner’s Club (cherry wood and boar) (44)
    • Razor: Zwilling J. A. Henckels Friodur 17 (NOS, 7/8", hollow ground, stainless steel)
    • Lather: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Heather
    • Post Shave: House of Mammoth / Noble Otter / Declaration Grooming – Cerberus Fougère
    • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Heather

Heather and Cerberus Fougère work really well together despite a significantly different energy level. While Heather is soothing, almost powdery, Cerberus Fougère is lively and rambunctious.
