@jabathekek@sopuli.xyz Did you hear back about the quote request?
We already have one: !ama@aussie.zone
Maybe I give the professional traders too much credit, but I figure that I won’t, as an amateur, be able to outperform the market (which is largely steered by the professionals) through skill. I might get lucky, and I might be able to make educated guesses to improve my chances of getting lucky, but I figure that if there’s some rational move to be made - like cashing out and waiting for a crash - then the market would be crashing already as the professionals all cash out.
I was half-expecting the video to be this one 😆: https://youtube.com/watch?v=lm1Xm2Iupzo
Absolutely. Some of those fucked-up stars look like maple or cannabis leaves 😆 It’s not like Palmer couldn’t have afforded an illustrator, either. Right-wing boomers just love AI garbage for some reason.
Oh, and as a bonus, the Latin is wrong 😆
@quokka1@mastodon.au Lion go ‘doot doot’
Barcode numbers can sort of give an indication.
The first three digits are determined by the country the barcode was assigned in. The barcode can’t tell you the country of origin of the product, but it’s fairly likely the company that made the product is headquartered in the country indicated by the code (or at least has some administrative presence there).
Here’s a list of country codes for reference: https://www.barcodestalk.com/learn-about-barcodes/resources/barcode-country-codes
Here’s a Snopes article about what the country codes can’t tell you: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/bar-code-origin-point/
Yeah, your interpretation is correct. The discount is up to $50.
Beautiful one day, perfect storm the next!
There seem to be a few feeds just on YouTube if you search for some location and filter for ‘Live’.

Has anyone used both Syfe and Selfwealth? How do they compare? Is this going to be a case of buying up a competitor and then pushing all their customers over to a shittier platform?
In some states, but not in federal elections (in House of Reps).
The head of the CCA is literally a former NSW Liberal Party Treasurer, so I have my hopes that this story of partisan bias will be dismissed by any serious media (there’s a lot of unserious media in our country, though).
The real danger to the independence of the CCA is politicians making threats against the Authority and its staff because they don’t like its findings.
Ideally this sort of threat could be referred to the NACC, but they’ve shown themselves to be pretty pissweak so far.
Even people who don’t really have a Union
Nearly everyone is covered by a union, and if your union isn’t a fighting union, you should join it and start building militancy in the rank and file! (If you work in retail or fast food make sure to join RAFFWU, which is the fighting union, and not the SDA, who are shit.)
there are lots of other community groups that can be joined or created.
But yeah, joining community groups is also something that can help, but think about groups that are building alternative societal infrastructure that could support movements in exercising their power (e.g. feeding striking workers) or exert power themselves.
Something overlooked far too often though is just the fact of joining a political party itself. Helping to change and shape its direction from the inside.
I actually think this is - to a significant degree - a trap. It’s such a drain of time and energy for the benefit it can yield, compared to unionising workplaces or community organising.
So… what do voters ?
Build union power, specifically rank and file power
Right now, I have a cron job set to run on Monday and Friday nights, is this too frequent?
Only you can answer this. How many days of data are you prepared to lose? What are the downsides of running your backup scripts more frequently?
Europe is closer to China than us. Why aren’t the Brits, French and Germans doing this?
Australia is slightly closer to any part of China than Germany is, but Australia is much closer to the Paracel Islands (Germany is about 9000km, Australia about 4000km).
The rest of your comment is spot-on, though. There’s no way we’re getting those nuclear subs.
Yet another case of China aggressively placing its territory near American military assets. They must be stopped 😡😡😡
I assume the BBC has a crack team of censors for operating the bleep button.
In the article, the AEC says Starlink is only a backup.
Also, there’s a lot of remote polling locations where the only options are satellite-based - so if they’re planning to use the NBN satellites (Sky Muster), but a backup is required, Starlink makes sense for that.
