Love this! Thanks for posting!
This uses the same detection model as the whoBIRD android app. I’ve used it in a side by side test with Merlin and they do not give consistent results. They’re in the same ball park, but really every detection (for both apps) should be verified with human ears. And I’m not sure that’s possible with a 24/7 setup.
IT’S STILL AWESOME AND FUN! I hope the talented people that made this continue to develop it. I’m glad this was posted, but like OP said, not super practical.

thru_dangers_untold@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Why Everyone Should Still Use an RSS Reader in 2024English24·1 year agoAll youtube channels have their own feeds, but they’re not obvious to find. The first part of the URL looks like this:
https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=
Go to the channel’s home page and search the page source for “channel_id=” (with a long string of numbers and letters after it, often starting with a “U”) then paste the ID after the equal sign. The channel id looks something like this: UCtwKon9qMt5YLVgQt1tvJKg

Yes! I started doing this a few months ago and I’m glad I was able to familiarize myself with it before spring hit!
During installation, I’d recommend using the curl command provided by this fork: https://github.com/Nachtzuster/BirdNET-Pi That’s what worked best for me anyway.
