  • You could say we bought our Teslas “for the environment” in a way, though a bit roundabout. When we bought them (2018), it was after having previously leasing a Leaf which had shit mileage and poor performance over 40mph. We wanted to signal to the industry with our dollars that we wanted the EV movement to succeed. Because apparently money is the only thing they listen to. We knew full well that EVs were only a step toward a greener future or whatever but we wanted the industry to take that step and understand that being environmentally friendlier was important.

  • Flossing: pretty good. I occasionally forget but most of the time I realize it pretty fast because my teeth feel…thick or something.

Cutting out Diet Coke: quite good. I was super disciplined for about four weeks before I had one, in part to see how bad the cravings would be afterward. It was okay, but at the same time I could tell how easily it would be to become addicted again. Have only had it one other time (yesterday) but I’m sick so I’m giving myself a pass.

My fifth grader is going to go through his “human growth and development” series this spring in school, and they’ve stopped separating them by gender and everyone is all in the same classroom. Very different than when I did it in the mid-90s. It’s especially good because there’s kid at school who is nonbinary and I know of at least one other who is questioning.

When we first introduced my dog, my young cat, about 2 years old at the time I think, somehow managed to literally climb the wall and perch six feet up with her feet against each wall at a corner. I’m still not sure how she did it and I almost don’t trust my memory except it was seared in because I was so in shock.

  • For real though, my husband has eczema mostly concentrated on his hands and they get real torn up in the winter especially. If it gets really bad, we’ll get him a pack of latex gloves, he slathers on Vaseline and then I help him get the gloves on, and then he sleeps that way. It’s the only thing that manages to make a significant difference. It’s not comfy but sometimes his fingers bleed so we gotta do something.
