I think many people underestimate the level of impulsivity associated with crime.

The average criminal who breaks and enters is not doing research based off your bumper stickers to determine your weekend routine so the house is empty.

They usually are just walking down the neighbourhood and spot an open door, run in and grab valuables then leave.

As I have said in another comment, if I worked for Microsoft I wouldn’t wear a shirt complaining about my work killing people in a foreign country because I would realise that makes me a hypocrite.

In the same way I wouldn’t be vegan, work for an abattoir and complain to my CEO that killing animals is wrong.

It’s slower but the best way to basically guarantee you will have the money available at a future point when you need to buy the car.

A couple of notes:

• AirTags would be a terrible method of tracking a vehicle given that they warn any phone in the vicinity they are nearby when it looks like they are tracking.
• There are products specifically designed for vehicle tracking however and that would be far more fit for purpose
• Any security worth their salt would be conducting regular bug sweeps of vehicles and modifying regular routes to avoid routines where possible even if you got close enough to the vehicle to install the tracker the likely hood it would be in situ long enough to understand a regular routine is minimal. Then you’ve tipped off security that someone is tracking him so now they are on high alert.
• Elon is likely travelling in an explosive resistant vehicle. Protection against under vehicle explosives is relatively common.
• How would you detonate an explosive? Depending on the threat model the vehicle/nearby vehicles can be equipped with signal jammers meaning you need a hard wired detonator.
• Shooting a plane out of the sky? No thanks. The Russians just gave you a very real and practical alternative recently. Just install a small explosive on the plane.

The Reserve Bank (and the economy as a whole) needs to have some amount of inflation. If for example there was 0% inflation or deflation (-%) people would hoard cash as the buying power of their money would increase over time and this would slow the economy as less goods would be produced as there is less demand.

By keeping inflation around 2-3% the RBA is encouraging you to not hold money as cash as it’s value is slowly eroded over time (see velocity of money for related info) this makes you spend it now (this is good for the economy).

Wages are related but also independent of these factors to some extent. You could have a 20% wage increase and not impact inflation or make it rise significantly.
