Honestly I’m starting to forget what feeling like a kid was like. I’m 30 and yeah I don’t have all the answers and shit, but my teenage years were defined by an internal conflict I resolved in college, my relationship with my parents (one died when I was in college the other disowned me when I was in college), and high school.

My college years were defined by the wild shit my previous sentence said I went through at that time, as well as my studies, financial and housing struggles, and a relationship that ended less than a year after I graduated, and I moved away from my hometown after college.

I’m 30, I’m married, I’ve continued growing as a person my whole life and have no intent to stop now, my financial struggles are those of an adult of my generation with a decent career. I don’t really have any of the same problems I had as a kid except like my health and disability issues. Sometimes I have traumatic flashbacks to my teenage years but I haven’t had one in years. My interests have even matured. Sure I still don’t have all the answers, but anyone who says they do is lying to you and possibly themselves, and they may be trying to take advantage of you. I’m not a kid pretending to be an adult, I’m a person, and it turns out kids are too.

  • As someone who’s done stand up, people picture it as feeling cool and funny, but it’s an exercise in public humiliation. Eventually you might get those laughs, and there’s nothing like it when you do, but you’ve embarrassed yourself on stage so many times to get to that point, and at any point due to anything from the crowd that night to how you’re feeling you might wind up back there.

  • Yes, but set to music i assume and not nearly to the level one was expected to understand the ordering of digits.

In base 34: 1…9,a…z,10 it’s slightly more than half the digits the babylonians had, and as someone whose career involves a lot of math I don’t want to be dealing with at a glance trying to figure out the approximate difference between jl5x and ik8r

As an adult with a college degree in stem I know my digits and their ordering perfectly and without question unless literally trying to trip me up. The alphabet, I know in that specific order and would have to think to start in the middle. I don’t want to do series or sequences on that shit and if you do then good for you

  • The problem with base 60 is needing to know and remember instinctively the names, symbols, and relative positioning for 60 digits. Like, I love Babylon, they’re underrated for certain, but imagine teaching this to a 5 year old. Imagine doing calculus with this shit. Now remember that their writing impliment was a triangular reed and their written marks were entirely triangles and straight lines.

Yeah i have a background in human factors engineering and something like that is just asking for unsafe driving. If it can wait until you aren’t driving then all you should see of it is a little notification telling you fo check it when needed.
