Haggis with neeps and tatties and a little gravy is amazing. So peppery and satisfying. I know it sounds shite, but genuinely one of my favourite meals. Would take it over a Sunday roast any day. A lamb roast is excellent, mind you.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is it possible to find a friend or partner on Lemmy?
1·4 days agoHey! Don’t leave out those of us kicked off Reddit. Actually that’s maybe not a great Badge of Honour, socially speaking…

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•Sweet tea is one of the worst beverages to ever existEnglish
1·7 days agoUK sweet tea is just regular tea, sugar and a splash of milk. It’s awesome, although I usually take my tea without sugar unless I’m hungover or tired.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are you confident you could win an argument about?
8·10 days agoHonestly nothing. The more I read and listen about any topic that can be debated the more unsure I am of my stance. I’m pretty sure that billionaires simply shouldn’t be allowed to hoard so much money, but I’d probably fold under a multi-layered, informed rebuttal - it’s more a gut feeling that i’d likely fail to articulate.
I love the cautious, super-sensitive pre-amble before the gently framed question! It’s almost as if this whole topic is an absolute tinder-box doused in aviation fuel.
I find it a little comical that even folk that are clearly trying to be as on-board as they can, to the extent that nothing they say could be remotely seen as critical of trans people, all must do their tippy-toe dance before they get to the point.
End of the day, we’re on an anonymous platform that has a higher percentage of trans folk than most. If we could get to a place where honest and respectful questions could be asked without having to tread in eggshells then that, to me, would be progress.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Fellow 'Fediversers,' what keeps you hanging on here despite the "FV" being a work-in-progress, with all its built-in, various bumps & difficulties to experience along the way?
1·13 days agoBanned from Reddit. Gave FV a try and like it.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL: American Boomers are The Most Selfish Parents on the PlanetEnglish
61·14 days agoI blame the billionaires, but I despise the bootlickers who somehow think the billionaires got there fair, and square through hard work and that we’re all just jealous. It’s infuriating. I don’t hate successful people in the slightest. But multi-billionaires are parasites.

News@lemmy.world•Elon Musk’s politics cost his firm Tesla more than one million EV sales, report reveals
46·16 days agoFeels like if he could just STFU he’d be golden. I remember when he was widely seen in a positive light. He was practically messianic on Reddit back in the day. Then his innate pettiness came out when he called that diver a peado. It feels like his mask slipped then and everything after just reinforced the fact that he’s an unchecked and uncaring megalomaniac.
Thoughts and prayers, brother. That is heartbreaking.
Hey! I have a tiny dick and a tiny car. Do I get a prize?
I just find these reductive generalisations a bit silly and divisive. As if anyone born between arbitrary years x and y is part of some sort of united collective that can reasonably critique everyone born between years v and w.

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•AI behavioral analysis on factory workers, every step is monitored including attention detection from facial expressions
1·18 days agoUrelated to the original post, but my old man is autistic (undiagnosed, but we’re all pretty sure), and I find the notion that his emotions are not facially conveyed quite heartening.
He seldom smiles - although when he does it’s genuine. I think we as a family have sometimes made the mistake of projecting emotion onto his often expressionless face, and assuming negative ones.
It’s easy to conclude that he’s indifferent or bored, when he’s maybe just not naturally able to convey what he’s feeling through expression, which I hadn’t really considered.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Hot Take Time: What is a popular long-running franchise that just needs to stop?
2·18 days agoMy kids are mainlining it most days (when they’re allowed TV). They’re pre-teens and they love it. I don’t mind so much, basically because nostalgia - and at least it’s not Teen Titans Go, which was so fast it gave me a headache

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How did Gen X/Millennials failed at tackling the political issues they criticised in the 90's

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do y'all feel joy without alcohol or weed?
9·18 days agoI hear you. I’m a little different these days, but can totally relate. I drink beer usually one night each weekend, and get nicely drunk (pretty wasted). I feel shit the next day and my working week starts grouchy and tired. Fucks up my sleep pattern as well as wrecking my “health goals” (ie being less fat). However, mid week I’m fine and come Friday I’m excited for it.
Rince and repeat for the last 15 years. Before that I was drunk 3-4 nights a week. So I guess that’s progress…

But sleep is amazing. To me it’s a partially interactive movie where you disassociate and live out different lives with other characters who are often an amalgamation of different folk you know, in weird semi-familiar settings both past and present. It’s wild.
