  • a lot of Asia is aware they need immigration to succeed,

While this is true, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re open to it or that the immigration process is any easier for it.

as for Europe Spain is he most friendly to immigrants

I’ve heard that attitude is changing due to gentrification issues. Lots of remote workers have taken to the country and cost of living has apparently risen up in response.

I’m not entirely sure about either of these personally though(insight from people who live there would be wonderful), but I have heard about about the issues.

  • It’s something to keep in mind.

Don’t alienate those 36.32%. I’m sure some of us have strong feelings about their choices, but at the end of the day they outnumber Democrats and Republicans each by quite a bit. If you want to see change you are going to have to convince some of them to join you. This goes for elections and this goes for revolutions.

  • Yeah I’m not here for this. I just felt this massive wave of fatigue wash over me as I read it.

Like it or not you’re going to run into weirdos in just about every hobby. All preemptively judging people does is teach people to keep to themselves. We’re already building up a society of loners where people struggle to connect to each other with various other causes(loss of third places for example). We don’t really need something like this pushing people further apart, especially when that ultimately drives peoples empathy for each other down too.

I used to be the pride of my family for having finished college. Now it’s demonized by them.

I feel for the students of today. College was an important time for me. I experienced a lot of new ideas, my mind was opened. I didn’t get to do much in grad school, but my first four years of college changed me and I wouldn’t be the same without those experiences. The way the situation is escalating we may see colleges completely locked down or even abolished.

  • All you do is a quick search on the case to see if it’s real or not.

You could easily. We have resources such as LexusNexus or Westlaw which your firm should be paying for. Even searching on Google Scholar should be enough to verify. Stay away from Casetext though, it’s new and mostly AI. LN and WL also have AI integration but it’s not forced, you’re still capable of doing your own research.

I’ve been telling people this for a while, but everyone needs to treat AI like how we used to treat the wiki. It’s a good secondary source that can be used to find other more reliable sources, but it should never be used as your single standalone source.

I’m not going to sugarcoat it, AI is being forced everywhere you look and it is getting a bit difficult to get away from it, but it hasn’t taken over everything to the point where there is no longer any personal responsibility. People need to have some common sense and double check everything as they’ve been taught to do even before AI.

  • It doesn’t really generate activity. Basically any platform would prefer to have more comments to generate activity, which in some cases moves content across various algorithms, but also makes the platform look well active and involved. Having an active looking platform can make others want to sign up and join. I’m sure there’s potentially other reasons.

That said, I think it’s fine to lurk and should be promoted more. Sometimes it’s better to spend time focusing on articulating your thoughts and writing your posts than it is just writing more posts overall, and sometimes there isn’t much to add to a topic.

  • This hurt me to watch and it hurts me to see people supporting Trump’s actions.

Suppose for whatever reason that you do disagree with providing more aid. Was humiliating the leader of another nation in this manner justified at all? Were these the actions that any reasonable, dignified leader would make? You could have just refused to meet with him and told him no. Instead they dehumanized him, made him grovel and beg for support from their king full well knowing he was just going to say no anyways.

I keep trying to look for some good in the people of this nation, to see that there’s still some humanity left, but I don’t think there is at this point.

  • I’m so tired of this. Obviously more people need to be more politically active, but there’s a lot of issues occurring that we just don’t talk about enough here.

Being politically active while being a responsible and well-informed voter takes time. The first without the other two is just how you make more Republican voters. When you consider how much a lot of people are working and the other struggles they’re facing it really isn’t surprising that a lot of people are not that informed or active. Let’s also not pretend that one party doesn’t go out of its way to make it more difficult for people to vote either.

Other the other side of the issue there’s a myriad of issues that have made our current democrats less motivated to be an opposition party. Also, let me just point out that a party should never sit back and watch simply because they are not currently in full control of congress at the given moment. The Republicans have led by example on this repeatedly. Even when they aren’t in control they continue to be aggressive, to be disruptive, to keep a media presence. Democrats can do this too. They need to.

This isn’t to say that Democrats are completely to blame. There’s a lot of shitty people in this country and there are people out there that can do a bit more than what they’re doing to support the cause. This is just to say that Democrats share some responsibility and some of the burden here.

Also I just want to put this out there. I know people are scared, people are angry, people are upset, but the blame game isn’t doing anyone any good. It is important to understand what went wrong, but spending all our time pointing fingers is simply wasting energy.

  • A bit of an exaggeration but a lot of people will never understand that some people do not have much of a social battery left at the end of the day.

I have had so many people including rl friends, exs, or people I used to play online games with fail to understand that I don’t have that much energy in the evenings or even on the weekends sometimes. There’s dealing with my boss, dealing with my coworkers, dealing with people from other firms. Sometimes through teams, sometimes through the phone, sometimes in person.

  • (for those curious: the Ukrainian constitution prohibits electing a president during war, it’s especially hard with 20% of the country under hostile control; and regarding Zelensky’s rating, it’s about 70% currently)

A lot of Ukrainians have also fled the country, it makes no sense to organize this before ending the war. Why do we have to have this discussion? They are at war, marshal law is common during times of war to keep your country unified during these periods. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have vast oceans between them and their adversaries to allow for elections of their highest office to continue uninterrupted.
