  • I checked those out and the information is just vague.

They will say things like a 8 oz cup of coffee has 90 mg of caffeine. They won’t tell you how much ground coffee was used to achieve that.

They use weasel statements like espresso will have more, longer brew times will have more. Vague descriptions like “a typical 12 oz coffee will have 95 mg of caffeine, depending on how much coffee grounds were used”

    Okay lol

  • Please don’t be disheartened!

The people screaming at you are the ones who feel personally insulted, because they are terrified that you might not want to hear the stupidity that flows from their keyboard.

You can see them constructing, in real time, all kinds of strawmen about why it shouldn’t exist.

And to support you, many communities exist where moderators undertake the task of preventing uninformed and pointless discussion from taking over. There’s a couple of science and physics-based ones that I can recall from Reddit… where if you made any comment that he was slightly off topic, speculative, or not rooted in the ethic of scientific discovery… it was instantly removed.

Further to that, I can think of many communities where if you are not a professional in the field, a credentialed scientist, or able to demonstrate competency, you’re simply not allowed to be there. Not just not comment, one can’t even be there.

Stay strong. Your point has been more than proven by the babies squabbling here.

  • This entire comment section is filled with people talking to the music in their head, not to you or the topic you’ve raised.

This is the fundamental issue at play, people have severe self worth and emotional issues, and they leap at any chance to show it to the world.

Don’t you dare advocate any place where they can’t shoot their mouth off endlessly without considering their words!! Don’t be elitist! The stupids have value toooo!!!1

From what I see in your comment, you’re basically asking for a place where moderation handles endless logical fallacy, surly childish remarks, uninformed buffoonery, obnoxious aggressive posturing… Apparently that’s too much for people to handle.

I would love what you are advocating for, but we need something like an intelligence or LSAT-style test to vet people. 95% of people have absolutely fuck all to say. 95% of people literally cannot think; they are trapped in some kind of quasi-thought process that is largely governed by emotional self-protection mechanisms.

  • You really nailed it, plus it constantly creates this cloud of confusion in the consumer’s mind.

I do a lot of electronic repair, and I see people make incredibly stupid decisions because they are convinced by one small detail that the manufacturer emphasizes, which has no actual bearing on quality!

For example, I do a lot of repair for different types of salons in my city. I might repair professional hair tools that don’t have available replacement parts, or I will fix professional nail UV lights. I fix vacuums for one-woman small cleaning companies, etc.

And I see very interesting things. Every one of the small businesses I serve, also has a small second-hand market that goes along with it. They are constantly buying and selling their used devices among one another.

I will see those markets completely collapse when a manufacturer that has made a device for 15 years suddenly adds the word “xtreme” to the product. Like magic, the used salon tool that was selling for $200, is now worth $50 at best because it’s not “xtreme”. Exact same device. They are professional workhorse tools that have not changed in 40 years.

  • You sound confident, like you know things!

I feel like the espresso I brew isn’t really that potent? I get a 330ml mug of espresso out of 10g coffee grounds. And then it’s not even real espresso, it’s just crummy stove top pot “espresso”. I started drinking it that way because I was poor and it was a great way to get a lot of flavor for a little coffee grounds. Which I’d also occasionally recycle haha. But I’d be curious to know how actually potent it becomes. How would a person measure such a thing?

  • What do you think habanero goes well with? My father had no taste buds and could really only detect oil, salt, fat, and heat. Naturally this lead to him overloading in one area or another, because that’s all he wanted to taste. One time he served me pizza with crushed habanero and the floral perfuminess bowled me over. I’ve never really used them since, but I remember loving them before that incident!!

  • Your response is actually baffling to me.

I’m not sure why you think parents are there to serve you every piece of knowledge.

You’re an autonomous human being and you’d better learn how to learn on your own if you want to have a happy, functional life.

As you get older you’re going to realize that nobody is going to spoon-serve you free knowledge … That’s something that is hard fought, absolutely not a gift from parents or anything else. You have to do the work.

The fact that you just cherry-pick and poo poo my comment is a little bit sad. I see you self-imposing helplessness upon yourself, it’s a really poor attitude. I think you’re actually just lazy.
