Imnecomrade - pronounced “I am any comrade”
Techie, hippie, commie nerd
They already have a Mastodon account. It was recently made due to Facebook’s censorship.
Linux too woke for Facebook, lol.

It seems this censorship was due to a post of China’s Linux distro, openKylin. Meta is just being sinophobic and shitting themselves because they can’t compete with China.
On certain communities and on Hexbear, which I frequently repost to and from, it’s generally suggested and sometimes expected to post links using privacy/archival frontends, especially if the source is reactionary. I try to follow those rules. And while the bot is useful, I find it a bit annoying to see I received a comment and it ends up being the bot, boo. Plus lemmy now seems to show video content from YouTube if it uses an invidious link.
I know sometimes the video links do not work, but I prefer giving invidious links anyway as it’s easy to forget to finagle the link before just immediately clicking on it and accidentally opening a site like YouTube. I like to give users a buffer before deciding how to approach the link if it doesn’t work. Invidious has a link available to watch directly on YouTube, so I figured people can still ultimately watch the video if nothing else works.
Try switching backends (links at the top), then try using a VPN and see if that makes a difference, then try grabbing the YouTube URL from the “Watch on YouTube” link and either use a third-party client, download it with yt-dlp, or watch on YouTube with uBlock Origin.
I was able to play this video by switching backends. Sometimes I have to switch multiple times on the same backends before it eventually works.
The original post is this

You can download the video with yt-dlp if you are comfortable with using the terminal.
yt-dlp requires the link to be written in this format
https://www.xiaohongshu.com/explore/6789b4f3000000001c00c30e?xsec_token=CBllI-uCpLknDxw1_NrM26DTwH-CcWzBGlSXy2AJCeZhw&xsec_source=app_share
Finally, you can install it with yt-dlp as so
yt-dlp https://www.xiaohongshu.com/explore/6789b4f3000000001c00c30e?xsec_token=CBllI-uCpLknDxw1_NrM26DTwH-CcWzBGlSXy2AJCeZhw&xsec_source=app_share
Anytime I post a Xiaohongshu video, I make sure to transform the url to this format so people can easily copy and download it with yt-dlp.
yt-dlp comes with various parameters that you can use to your needs, and it works with various websites with video/audio content.
You may need Google Play Services. On LineageOS, you need to install the MindTheGapps package after installing the OS and before you boot into the phone for the first time: https://wiki.lineageos.org/gapps/
If you are waiting on the SMS but can launch XHS, I suspected my custom ROM and rooted phone were causing issues with XHS (and you will get banned if you try making a WeChat account on such a device), too, but I managed to get an SMS the next day but still had to wait for the SMS limit to pass (and it was of course expired by then). That evening, I entered my phone number again, immediately got an SMS, entered the code, and it worked. I do have the Shamiko module installed with Magisk, so maybe that made a difference.
Looks like freagle beat me to it.
Obviously China is not an emerging economy. /s

I love your work. Your writing is very engaging. <3
This is so ludicrously pathetic, I literally started having a laughing fit.
Zelensky doing the Undertale genocide route on his own citizens.
[!]
But nobody came.
Tried making a WeChat account, but my account was immediately temporarily banned likely because my phone is rooted and I downloaded the app from the Aurora Store. Oops. I guess if I want to use WeChat at some point, I will need to get a separate phone.
The US is the one sanctioning China and hurting its own economy. China is responding to those sanctions, but they would rather work peacefully and encourage mutual trade with us. But the US doesn’t want its own citizens to benefit from China’s affordable electric vehicles because US’s own car manufacturers would have to lower their overinflated prices.
China can’t control the US setting up military infrastructure in its own province which threatens its own existence and national security. What if China started developing military opposition in Alaska, Hawaii, Florida, or California? Wouldn’t the US lose their shit and see it as a threat to its own existence? Then why is it fair that we are doing the same in Taiwan?
China doesn’t want to attack Taiwan. The US is provoking them and trying to turn Taiwan into its own vassal and stop China from completing its Belt and Road Initiative which would develop the Global South’s economies and make them independent and protected from Western colonialism/neocolonialism/imperialism and IMF debt loans. As countries are moving away from the US dollar, our own economy is suffering because our government refuses to stop being a demonic imperialist entity that wants to rule over the world and not allow a multipolar world where different countries can work and trade together mutually and peacefully, which would lead to workers running the government and building an economy that benefits humanity’s well being.

The US officially recognizes the One China Rule, that Taiwan is a province in China, the PRC is the legitimate government of China, and that China and Taiwan should resolve their differences peacefully, which is the point of the One China Rule. Despite this, the US has funded $44 billion and created various military exchange programs for “Taiwan’s defense”, and China opposes this as obviously we don’t have a good track record with not funding and attacking foreign countries for our own gain. US wants to start a war with China because its hegemony is crumbling, and they want to keep the rich in power and not work toward a system where the workers benefit from universal healthcare, affordable housing, etc.
Explain to me what TikTok did that was harmful. Explain to me how they used the data for malicious purposes. Also explain to me how US based companies like Meta, Google, Amazon, etc. aren’t doing the same thing and actually provide that information to the police to develop the surveillance and police state here. What’s China going to do with our data, sell it to AliExpress to make us treats?
I’m not acting like anything, the government is. Some of the reasons to your question include: the law is slow, TikTok is among the most popular, banning more apps would further kill the illusion that it is for OuR pRoTeCtIoN, and the US is trying to manufacture consent with a war with China by spreading anti-China propaganda and is failing to do so. The US wants to use its own tech and internet companies as a way to protect US hegemony and to not let other nations develop their own tech sovereignty. China’s Great Firewall is a protectionist policy that encourages their citizens to use and develop their own tech sovereignty, and now as they are starting to surpass the US internet companies, they are opening the doors to their platforms and giving people across the world a chance to connect on a truly global platform. Chinese citizens do not go to prison for using a VPN to access content in other countries. Europe is now considering their own Great Firewall as they realized that they are very dependent on US infrastructure, and such a firewall would help encourage their own internet industries to develop and improve their own sovereignty. US servers are also proving to be not safe for other countries to host websites given this aggressive ban and hostile behavior against foreign content which harms their hegemony.
