  • Not that I really disagree, but it should be pointed out - Trump has never had an ideology, never. Unless scamming money is an ideology. He’s only racist in the sense that he believes people are beneath him and some “categories” more than others, he doesn’t actually give a shit about anything we’d call a belief system or vision for the world or anything.

This stuff seems to me like ragebait, but IRL; explicitly intended to cause stories of “riots” that will give them the thinnest of justifications to start violent crackdowns.

America is in an extremely sketchy place right now. If violence begins in earnest, it’s hard to imagine lefties coming out on top. And even if so, the suffering involved will be extreme.

Edit to add: I really do think that creating justifications to attack the left (literally, not metaphorically) is the plan for how to unite his base again once they turn on him enough. And if it works, we are SUPER fucked.

Once as a kid I was hanging out with a buddy near the area where my neighborhood stopped and the next one started.

Pretty girl from the next neighborhood starts coming our way, of course me and the homie start shitting bricks. She gets to us, looks at me, and goes “oh, sorry, you looked hot from far away”, and turned around and walked back 💀

Obviously it stung but it was just so hilariously, callously mean that I had to laugh even in the moment lol

  • Ah interesting, I think for some reason I assumed it’d be more of an administrative career path offshoot for someone working in chemistry, but architecture does make more sense. And I know how you feel, I started my career in industrial controls because the idea of working at the interface between invisible electrical black magic and moving valves, motors, and other machinery seemed real cool.

Quickly learned that in that world, creativity and innovation are treated more like liabilities than anything else lol, and rightly so. There’s a few great, proven ways to do most things, and rarely is it wise or fruitful to develop novel approaches over one of the proven solutions. I wouldn’t want to be a chemist in a lab toting multiple new designs, lol.

I found it stifling, but could’ve tolerated it a lot better if the majority were WFH like yours!
