  • OK, do you want me to tell 50 users of my Plex server that they can no longer use their shitty 10 year old smart TV to watch my movie library, and instead have to pay money buy a chromecast dongle, and then get a completely different UI and lose all their view progress on TV series? They’d just go back to paying for Netflix.

And yes, I have users that struggle even with the Plex app. My father can’t figure out how to use his dumb-phone to call a contact, and is only able to accept incoming calls. It took months to teach him how to use the Plex app, switching him to a different one will take just as long

  • Yes, and they actually have a working thermostat, so they aren’t complete garbage to solder electronics with.

Gas powered soldering irons are great for soldering stuff like copper water pipes. But even soldering through-hole components with them is a pain in the ass due to the temperature instantly evaporating all your flux. Soldering SMD components is near impossible with them

  • How could they be reclaimed? They are owned by somebody who legally owns them. Unless the owner is found guilty of something that entitles the government to take possession then there’s no legal way to do that.

Keep in mind this article is about Teslas in Germany, where expropriation is legal if a judge deems it to be for the greater good. But that’s only really possible in theory and thus far doesn’t happen in practice

  • Reddit karma uses a logarithmic function to determine the karma on a post. The first upvotes give 1 karma each, but the higher the number gets the less karma you get from additional upvotes.

This isn’t even some theory based on observations, the reddit algorithm used to be completely open source so you can see how it works on github (or at least how it used to work 7 years ago).

Front page reddit posts with 50k points most likely have over a million upvotes in reality
