The dude is a legend. I’ll always remember the smile on his face when the interview coordinator read my comment out loud “Quark is the best character in DS9”.
He unironically is; the Ferengi made that series.
100 percent. Sisko just does not work for me - but Quark is the reason I keep coming back.
Sisko improves once he metaphorically and literally “grows the beard”.
Hot take: I found him acting better before the bearded wrecking ball aesthetic. His acting always seemed a bit wooden to me, but after the change he leaned more into it in my opinion. Definitely not saying he is a bad character or actor of course, he is still my second favorite captain after Picard.
I had always assumed that change was part of the character’s arc. At the start he is a by the books commander and by the end he talks with 5 dimensions aliens, believes he is one chosen to guide a planet full of people and is willing to toss out his morals to manipulate other great powers.
His laughter feels so fake
Yeah, who else is even up there, some simple tailor??

The Klingon merchant on Tulgana IV definitely has the Lursa and B’ETor sound going on, I’d be surprised if the voice actress wasn’t wearing Klingon teeth
What does this mean a mouthpiece? I assume something to adjust the way they talk vs the output but can someone give me some sort of example of a difference of like… what does it do?
His fake Ferengi teeth, which effected how his voice sounded.
Oh really? It makes that big a difference?
Yep. Ever watch Buffy? Listen to a vampire talk before and after they vamp out. It’s the same effect.
Have not watched Buffy, no. But I believe you fully. Just didn’t think it was a big deal for voice but… at the same time I’m quite face blind so muffling and costumes don’t usually impact my ability to recognize someone. So it’s low-key amazing to me the lengths some people go to
Well, if you’re curious, I’m pretty sure you could hear it about 2 minutes into episode 1. Then you could just keep watching because it’s about equally amazing, and made in a very similar spirit to DS9.
Episode 1 of Lower Decks?
No, of Buffy.
