  • Change made to allow devices to belong to only one speaker group at a time is being reversed.
  • Legal decision invalidated two patents Sonos claimed were infringed, prompting this reversal.
  • Devices will again be able to belong to multiple speaker groups without error.
  • Update rolling out immediately on Android and soon on iOS.

    Fantastic. This was a flagrant abuse of the patent process.

    I hate to be the one to suck corpo dick here, but part of me hopes Google sues Sonos into oblivion for damages over this, then buys up the remaining scraps of their team, and sunsets their project.

    Literally none of my Chromecast work now.

    They all require “activating” via a different app. Then they get stuck at “updating” on 0%, until they scream Network problem and tell me to factory reset. Even if I try a wired connection.

    Multiple ultras and gen 2 Chromecast are just bricked thanks to Google.
