China on Tuesday vowed to support the World Health Organization after President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing the United States to withdraw from the body, which he has slammed over its handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ironic how making America great is an opportunity for China to improve its image and influence.

Many countries including China handled COVID better than the US did. Nikkei Asia of Japan published an index.

The US is free to stay, the EU is free to step up.

Most countries including China handled COVID better than the US did.

Um, did you miss the time when they bolted people inside their apartments which resulted in people burning to death in apartment fires? Or the massive amount of misinformation they spread regarding COVID? Or that they put several journalists in jail for reporting on COVID?

I don’t think it’s functionally possible for any country to have handled COVID worse than China did.

Argue with Nikkei Asia, they are Japanese and you can see their index for yourself.

No, they want the WHO in their pocket. The US fumbled the response, but China was worse. Lots of China worshipping on Lemmy lately.

The Chinese government has reportedly actively engaged in disinformation to downplay the emergence of COVID-19 in China and manipulate information about its spread around the world. The government also detained whistleblowers and journalists claiming they were spreading rumors when they were publicly raising concerns about people being hospitalized for a “mysterious illness” resembling SARS. The blame for the failure to report cases of COVID-19 at the onset is unclear because of the difficulty pinpointing it as a failure by either local or national officials. The Associated Press reported that, “increasing political repression has made officials more hesitant to report cases without a clear green light from the top.” There are ongoing investigations in an effort to understand what happened, including an investigation by the World Health Organization which will probe into what Wuhan officials knew at the time of the outbreak.

I don’t share your sinophobia and yellow peril delusions.

“reportedly”, my brother in Christ the US made those reports without any care of whether it was true.
